Maintenance is a very important factor in the longevity of your roof. Most people only think about their roof when water is pouring in the house, which can be prevented with a quick visual inspection and some maintenance.

Clean gutters, check caulking, flashing, roof cones, stacks, storm collars, valleys, for blisters, for cracks, all roof penetrations and the actual roof itself.

Clear away snow from edges and along walls to prevent ice damming. Ice damming is a ridge of ice that forms at the edge of roof and prevents melting snow (water) from draining off the roof. the water that backs up behind the dam can leak into your home and cause damage to the interior, walls, ceilings ,insulation, floors and other areas.

Spring maintenance involves checking the same items as Fall maintenance.  The roof should also be checked for any damage that may have occurred due to ice and snow over the winter.
